Bhopal: Senior Indian Police Service Officer Surendra Kumar Pandey died here on Friday after suffering a heart attack. He was 53.

Pandey, currently posted as Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) here, suffered a massive cardiac arrest while he was working out at a gym in Arera Colony area this morning.

As usual, Pandey went to the gym in the morning and while exercising, complained of severe pain in the chest following which he was immediately rushed to nearby government-run JP Hospital, where all efforts to revive him proved futile and he was declared dead by the doctors, a senior IPS official said.

Pandey, a 1988 batch IPS officer, belonged to Bhojpur district of Bihar, and is survived by wife, a son and a daughter.
