Shivraj Singh Chouhan takes oath as Madhya Pradesh CM for third term

Bhopal: Shivraj Singh Chouhan, who led Bharatiya Janata Party to a massive win in Madhya Pradesh Assembly Election, took the oath of office as the state Chief Minister for the third consecutive term on Saturday.

Chouhan took oath at Jambooree Maidan and Madhya Pradesh governor Ram Naresh Yadav administered the oath of office and secrecy to him.

BJP leaders Narendra Modi, Rajnath Singh, Uma Bharti and Sushma Swaraj were present during the ceremony. Besides them, TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu, Shiv Sena president Uddhav Thackeray, Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar and newly elected Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje and Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh also attended the ceremony.

Senior BJP leader Sushma Swaraj had earlier formally declared Chouhan as the chief of the party`s legislature wing after considering the views of the 165 MLAs.

BJP had won 165 of the 230 seats in the Madhya Pradesh election. The party surpassed its earlier tally of 143 seats. Jyotiraditya Scindia-led Congress dropped to 57 seats from 71 in 2008.
