Bhopal: The SIMI and Indian Mujahideen (IM) terrorists arrested by Madhya Pradesh ATS recently were also involved in the Mannapuram Gold Finance Company loot case of August 2010, a top police official said on Friday.

"The SIMI and IM ultras arrested from Bhopal and Jabalpur on June 5 have admitted to looting Mannapuram Gold Finance Company and decamped with 12 kg gold," state ATS Chief Vipin Maheshwari told reporters.

The mastermind behind the sensational loot was Dr Abu Faizal and five others identified as Zakir, Sajid, Aslam, Mujibur Rehman and Ejazuddin, he said.

Out of the 12 kg gold, police recovered over six kg from their hideouts while rest of the gold was sold by them in Ranchi, Akola, Jalgaon, Kolkata and Bhusaval.

While committing the crime, they had covered themselves under an umbrella to avoid the cameras installed at the office of the gold finance company.

The ATS has arrested eight SIMI and IM terrorists from Bhopal and Jabalpur on June 5 following an encounter at Ratlam.
