Indore: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan here on Saturday said that with skill development among the youth, the ever-growing population of the country would become an asset.

"The population is increasing constantly. There is no point in cursing it. We have to think how to turn it into an asset. If we develop skills of our youth...Then it will turn out to be our major strength rather than weakness," Chouhan said while inaugurating the campus of Narsee Monji Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS).

"Once the British ruled the country, but now no one can rule the world in that way. Today you can rule only through the knowledge. This is possible only when we make our youth knowledgeable. With that they can get jobs in India and abroad."

The Indian youth had proven their mettle in the Silicon Valley and the health sector in the US and had become indispensable for that country, he added.

Chouhan said the BJP government in its first two terms focused on improving power, water, roads and agriculture sector and in the third term it was striving to improve health and education. Therefore, the state was inviting quality institutes.

NMIMS chancellor Amrish Patel said the institute will contribute in bio-diversity, renewable energy, health services, agriculture, entrepreneurship and e-governance sectors in the state.

Later Chouhan launched 'Swacch Indore, Swastha Indore and Harit Indore' campaign by lifting garbage at three different places.
