Two dacoits killed in police encounter in Guna, MP

Guna: Notorious Pardi gang dacoit Kiran Pardi and his associate Sunil Pardi were killed in an encounter with police at Chilka hill near Dharnavada village in the district on Friday afternoon, police said.

Acting on a tip-off that the two were camping in the area, police reached the spot and encircled the place, Guna Superintendent of Police K C Jain told PTI over phone. Kiran and Sunil opened fire, injuring three policemen including a town inspector, he said. Both were killed as police returned the fire.

Kiran carried a reward of Rs 15,000 on his head, while Sunil carried a reward of Rs 1,000. Both were involved in several cases of loot, murder and dacoity. Besides Madhya Pradesh, they had cases registered against them in Rajasthan, Jammu and Kashmir, Delhi and Maharashtra, Jain said.

A family in Jammu and Kashmir too had announced a reward of Rs five lakh on Kiran's head, the SP said. Police recovered a 12-bore rifle and 19 cartridges from their possession. The injured policemen were identified as town inspector Narendra Bhargava, ASI Gopal Choube and constable Narendra Raghuwanshi.
