Bhopal: In a bid to promote cashless transactions, the West Central Railway (WCR) has introduced point-of-sale (PoS) machines for ticket and parcel bookings at four railway stations in Madhya Pradesh.

"WCR has introduced cashless facilities through PoS at four stations, including two stations of Jabalpur - Madanmahal and Jabalpur Junction, and two of Bhopal - Habibganj and Bhopal Main Station," WCR Chief Public Relations Officer Surendra Yadav told PTI.

He said the Railways have entered into an arrangement with State Bank of India for providing card swipe machines.

"These initiatives are being taken to encourage cashless transactions at railway stations. The PoS facilities are initially introduced for reserved ticket and parcel booking counters. We would soon introduce the cashless facility at the counters of unreserved tickets," he said.

WCR is planning to extend such facilities at other railway stations of the zone also.

"More stations of the zone would soon be covered. SBI has so far installed 13 machines at these four railway stations," Yadav added.
