Ujjain: A woman seer demanding equality with her male counterparts for undertaking 'shahi snan' (royal bath) and more facilities for her 'akhara' at the ongoing month-long Simhastha (Kumbh) mela here was arrested by the authorities an sent to jail.

Pari akhara chief Trikal Bhavanta was arrested along with an associate on charge of breach of peace on Wednesday.

The Madhya Pradesh Police said that Bhavanta had on Tuesday threatened to take a 'samadhi' inside a 10-feet-deep pit in case Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan did not meet her demands within 24 hours.

However, she was arrested before the deadline ended.
