Women can work in evening shifts: Shivraj Singh Chouhan

In yet another step towards women empowerment, Madhya Pradesh Government would soon allow fair sex to work in second and third shifts in factories and other establishments across the state.

Bhopal: In yet another step towards women
empowerment, Madhya Pradesh Government would soon allow fair
sex to work in second and third shifts in factories and other
establishments across the state.

"Women will be able to work in second shift in
factories and a notification in this regard will be issued
within a week," Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh
Chouhan announced yesterday after inaugurating the Vardhman
Textiles Unit at Mandideep near here.

"If needed even they (women) would be allowed to work
in the third shift in the state," Chouhan said.

At present women are allowed to work in factories only
in one shift in the state while in number of other states they
are allowed to work in all the shifts.

Chouhan said that his government will continue with
its endeavour to empower women and girls in the state.

Addressing on the occasion, Vardhman Group Chairman,
S P Oswal said that the group would invest Rs 2,500 crore in
the state and added that there is a favourable atmosphere
for industrialisation in the state.

The group has set up Vardhman Yarns with an estimated
cost of Rs 850 crore.

Earlier, Chouhan laid the foundation stone for the
extesnion unit of LNG Bhilwara Group`s Hindustan Electro
Graphites (HEG) factory at Mandideep with an estimated cost of
Rs 250 crore.

The production from the extension facility will begin
from 2011. It will produce 66,000-80,000 metric tonne
electro-grahite.

Speaking on the occasion, Bhilwara Group Chairman,
Laxmi Niwas Jhunjhunwala informed that there are only seven
industrial units of graphite in the world and among them two
are in India.
