13 killed, 12 injured in Maharashtra accident

Thirteen tribals, including a woman and three minors, were killed, while 12 others were injured, when the vehicle, fell into a dry nullah.

Amravati: Thirteen tribals, including a woman and three minors,
were killed on the spot, while 12 others were injured, when the
vehicle, in which, they were travelling, fell into a 13-feet
deep dry nullah here,police said.

The incident took place near Maujkheda village on
Paratwada-Chandur Bazar Road near here Tuesday night.

According to police, the tribals were heading to Ashti
forest from Khadimal village in Melghat in search of
employment, when the incident took place.

Three seriously injured persons have been admitted to
the district general hospital here, while others have been
taken to Achalpur Subdistrict Hospital, they said.

Police say that the driver, who escaped unhurt, ran
away from the spot. According to them, he might have lost
control of the vehicle, due to which, the vehicle fell into
the dry nullah.

The vehicle has been pulled back from the nullah and
bodies of the victims have also been recovered. Police are
investigating further.
