Mumbai: Mumbai Crime Branch chief Rakesh
Maria has written a letter to Home Department clarifying
allegations made by slain IPS officer Ashok Kamte`s widow.

"We have received the letter from Maria explaining his
side but he has not said anything about the resignation,"
Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Chandra Iyengar said today
declining to divulge the contents of the letter.

Maria had met Iyengar last week after the release of the
book "To The Last Bullet", penned by Kamte`s wife Vinita,
wherein she had accused the officer of mishandling the
situation on 26/11.

She had also questioned why Maria, who took charge of
Police Control Room during the 59-hour siege, had denied
knowledge of how Ashok, Additional Police Commissioner (East),
landed up in Cama Hospital despite having himself asked him to
go there.

Iyengar said she would be meeting Maria regarding the
letter and resolve the issue in consultation with the Chief
Minister and Home Minister.

Maria was upset with the allegations levelled against
him and wanted to clarify the circumstances, Iyengar had said
earlier.
