Mumbai: The city police on Tuesday questioned
two state government officials in connection with the theft of
four pages pertaining to the Adarsh Housing Society, which is
at the centre of a scam.
The Crime Branch, which has taken over the investigation
in the case, today questioned Ashok Patil, an official and
Vidya Dabholkar, a clerk working in the Urban Development
department.
The police had last week registered a case of theft with
an intent to damage evidence against unknown officials after
it came to light that four papers from a file pertaining to
Adarsh Housing Society were missing from the Urban Development
department.
"We have questioned Patil and Dabholkar today and will
be questioning several other officials in connection with the
missing papers," a senior Crime Branch official said.
According to officials, the missing papers allegedly
contained noting by the then Principal Secretary, Urban
Development Ramanand Tiwari and former Deputy Secretary P V
Deshmukh.
The society is embroiled in a scam where flats built
for Kargil war heroes were allotted to bureaucrats,
politicians` relatives and defence officers.
