Afghan national arrested for staying illegally in Nagpur

An Afghan national was arrested for allegedly staying in the city without valid documents for the last 17 years, police said.

Nagpur: An Afghan national was arrested for allegedly staying in the city without valid documents for the last 17 years, police said on Friday.

One Aslam Khan alias Sher Khan was staying in a rented
house in Khadan locality in the central city area, they said.

Police kept a watch for one month on his activities and
traced his calls to Afghanistan, Pakistan, Kolkata and Assam.
He was arrested yesterday, police said.

Khan managed to get fabricated documents and cards to
show as residential proofs. A cell phone and papers have been
recovered from his rented accommodation, they said.

Offences have been registered against him under relevant
sections of the Passport (Entry Into India) Foreigners Act,
they added.
