Mumbai: Maharashtra BJP on Tuesday challenged
deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar to prove his allegation that
the 'conspiracy' to stage farmers' protest at Maval near Pune
was hatched at Rambhau Mhalgi Probodini, an institute run
by the RSS.
Addressing a press conference here today, state BJP
spokesman Madhav Bhandari said, "We challenge Pawar to prove
his allegation. Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan has already
contradicted his deputy's charge saying he had no information
about it," Bhandari said.
This government has the "habit of killing farmers
protesting against land acquisition" as it was seen at
Jaitapur, he said.
Three farmers were killed while protesting against land
acquisition at Maval near Pune recently. Aji Pawar had alleged
that the programme of protests was worked out by the BJP.
Meanwhile, Bhandari said the party would soon announce
agitation against the government for the treatment meted out
to Anna Hazare.
