Amrita Pritam son`s murder: Sketches of two suspects released

The sketches were prepared on the basis of description given by a neighbour, who claimed to have seen the two walking out of the deceased Navraj Kwatra.

Mumbai: A day after the murder of celebrated writer and poet Amrita Pritam`s son at his house in suburban Borivali, police Saturday released sketches of the two suspects, who were seen walking out of his house after the killing.

The sketches were prepared on the basis of description given by a neighbour, who claimed to have seen the two walking out of the deceased Navraj Kwatra`s (65) house in the afternoon, police said.

A person chased the suspects, but could not catch them, police said, adding that they were questioning several people with past criminal records and also those who worked at Kwatra`s home.

There was a close circuit television (CCTV) camera in the residence-cum-studio, but it was switched off, police said.

There were no security guards in the building and most of the residents in the building were senior citizens, police said.

Kwatra was allegedly strangled to death at his residence on the ground floor in Wilderness Co-operative Society yesterday.

His wife lives in Delhi, while daughter has gone to Thailand for some exhibition.

The incident came to light at 12.30 pm yesterday when the neighbours found the door ajar and that nobody was responding to their calls.

They saw Kwatra in an unconscious state and immediately notified police, police said.
