Anees arrested for roughing up DSP leader, released on bail

Former Maharashtra minister for dairy development Anees Ahmed was arrested here and later released on bail after he allegedly threatened and roughed up a local leader here, police said on Monday.

The incident took place yesterday when Ahmed and one
Shakeel Patel, working president of Democratic Secular Party
(DSP), shared the dais at a programme in the thickly populated
Mominpura area and entered into a verbal brawl, police said.

Ahmed allegedly slapped and later beat up Patel following
which both filed police complaints against each other.

The two were arrested under relevant sections of the IPC.

They were produced in a local court last evening and were
later released on bail, police said.

Ahmed was caught on the wrong foot on a few occasions and
a case was registered against him under the Prevention of
Atrocities Act earlier.
