Mumbai: The sessions court today rejected
the bail plea of two alleged terrorists - Abdul Latif and
Riyaz Ali - arrested for planning to carry out terror attacks
in the metropolis.
The duo was arrested by the Anti-Terrorism Squad
(ATS) in March this year for allegedly trying to carry out
terror acts at the headquarters of public sector petroleum
company ONGC, Thakkar Mall in suburban Mumbai and Mangaldas
Market in south Mumbai.
The sessions court rejected their bail pleas observing
that it was a serious offence and prima facie there was
evidence against them.
According to the investigation, the duo had planned to
start a fire in the room at the ONGC headquarters, which
contained the electric meters and fuse boxes.
The duo were allegedly in regular touch with a person
addressed as `Uncle` who the ATS suspect is Bashir Khan, a
close aide of underworld fugitive Tiger Memon and Dawood
Ibrahim and an absconding accused in the 1993 serial bomb
