Bhiwandi by-poll may witness a triangular fight

Thane: The January 20 by-election to the
Bhiwandi east Assembly segment is expected to be a triangular
fight.

The by-poll has been necessitated after MLA from the
constituency, Abu Azmi vacated the seat, thus paving way for
his son Farhan Azmi.

While Farhan will contest on the SP ticket, Congress has
nominated Muzaffar Hussain, sitting MLC from Thane district.

Shiv Sena has decided to field Rupesh Mhatre.Also in the
fray is the rebel Shiv Sena candidate and former Bhiwandi MLA
Yogesh Patil and Congress rebel Shaikh Rizwan Ahmad Mistar.

A clear picture would emerge only after the final
scrutiny of the nominations will be done on Monday and
candidates can withdraw their nominations on or before
Wednesday.

Other candidates who have filed their nominations include
Bhaidas Jadhav of RPI, Sanju Gupta (Ind), Gazi Ejtab Khan
(IND) Zashi Rashrapati Anant (IND).
