Mumbai: Maharashtra BJP today said that itsalliance with Shiv Sena for next year`s crucial Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) will continue.
State unit president Sudhir Mungantiwar said that the alliance will continue for the Mumbai civic poll election.
The announcement comes in the backdrop of the uneasy relationship between the two saffron partners as BJP was cosying up with the Raj Thackeray led MNS in the last few months.
However, BJP general secretary in charge of the state Venkaiah Naidu had met Sena executive president Uddhav Thackeray and had made it clear that BJP had nothing to do with the MNS.
Meanwhile, the party has convened a meeting of its stateoffice-bearers on May 9 to discuss its strategy for the local bodies elections scheduled later this year and early 2012.
Mungantiwar said issues like 50 per cent reservation for women in local bodies and how to include educated people from different strata of the society into the party, political strategy for the elections, candidates to be finalised and the
prevailing political situation at the grassroots would be discussed.
