BJP wrests Amravati, NCP wins Yavatmal

The Amravati Graduates constituency was wrested by the BJP while NCP won Yavatmal and Bhandara-Gondia local bodies seats.

Mumbai: The Amravati Graduates constituency was wrested by the BJP while an independent candidate supported by the party won the Nagpur teachers seat in the biennial elections to the Maharashtra Legislative Council.

In Amravati, BJP candidate Ranjit Patil won trouncing senior MLC B T Deshmukh while NP Ganar, an independent supported by BJP defeated sitting independent legislator Vishwnath Digavane in Nagpur teachers constituency.

In Konkan teachers constituency, Ramnath Mote, BJP supported independent retained the seat. Aurangabad teachers was won by NCP`s Vikram Kale.

NCP won Yavatmal and Bhandara-Gondia local bodies seats, Nashik division graduates was won by the Congress. While Jalgaon local bodies was won by independent Manish Jain.
After the last date of withdrawal of nomination on November 13, Congress`s Amar Rajurkar was declared elected unopposed from Nanded local bodies constituency, bringing much relief to ousted Chief Minister Ashok Chavan who hails from the region.
NCP candidates Anil Bhosale and Prabhakar Gharge also won unopposed from Pune and Sangli-Satara local bodies respectively.
