Mumbai: The Brihanmumbai Municipal
Corporation (BMC) would appeal to the school authorities to
inform parents of those children who are suspected to be
carrying symptoms of H1N1 to get them tested for Swine flu.
The civic body will issue an advisory on swine flu for
schools asking them keep an eye on symptoms such as fever,
sore throat and running nose among students.
"We want teachers to be alert. So we will ask them
that they must report swine flu related cases or any similar
symptoms like cold, cough, fever and running nose to their
parents and they get their children tested for it and must
take rest for seven to ten days," Additional Municipal
Commissioner Manisha Mhaiskar said.

The child must stay at home. It is better to keep the
child in isolation at home rather than let the virus spread in
schools, Mhaiskar said.

Seven people have died due to swine flu in Mumbai since
June 1 and 79 people have tested positive.

"We are doing this as a precautionary measure. We do
not want to create panic. We are being cautious," she said.
