Bombay HC suggests probe in conspiracy angle in fatal love triangle

In November 2011, Juhi Prasad, a lawyer from Delhi, was set on fire by Anushree Kundra, an IT professional who was earlier in a relationship with Juhi`s boyfriend Nimesh Sinha. The incident took place in Nimesh`s flat in Pune.

Mumbai: The father of a 26-year-old woman, who was burnt to death allegedly by her boyfriend`s ex-lover, has approached the Bombay High Court seeking a direction to the police to probe conspiracy angle in the murder.

The Court has asked police to look into the charge.

In November 2011, Juhi Prasad, a lawyer from Delhi, was set on fire by Anushree Kundra, an IT professional who was earlier in a relationship with Juhi`s boyfriend Nimesh Sinha. The incident took place in Nimesh`s flat in Pune.

Juhi`s father, in his petition before the High Court, has alleged that Nimesh is also involved in the crime.

"Anushree was still residing with Nimesh and they were not ex-lovers. In November 2011, Nimesh called my daughter to Pune. Juhi spent the night with Nimesh at his home. The next morning, Anushree came into the bedroom and poured petrol on Juhi and set her ablaze," the petition stated.

The petition sought to know as to how Nimesh managed to escape unhurt in the entire episode. "Even if he had tried to save Juhi he would have sustained some burn injury. Nimesh is equally involved in the conspiracy."

When the petition came up for hearing before the HC on October 19, Additional Public Prosecutor Purnima Kantharia told the Court that Nimesh was an eyewitness in the case.
A Division Bench of Justices S C Dharmadhikari and Gautam Patel, however, suggested the police to consider recording the petitioner`s statement and look into his allegations.

"A father will know if there was some problem in the relationship between his daughter and another man. The culprit will try his best to wipe any such strain in the relation but the father will not. Considering the seriousness of the crime, the police can at least look into the allegations," it said.

The matter has been posted for further hearing on October 25.
