Bring FDI in but keep migrants out of retail: Raj Thackeray Zeenews Bureau

Mumbai: Ahead of the Bharat Bandh called by the Opposition on September 20 against FDI in retail, MNS chief Raj Thackeray on Tuesday came out in support of the government on the issue. But also wanted outsiders not to be given jobs in these outlets.

Raj Thackeray said, “There should be no opposition to FDI as locals are looting the country.”

The MNS chief also said that FDI in retail will definitely create job opportunities for the needy.

Key NDA ally Shiv Sena had already announced that they will not participate in the nationwide strike in protest against diesel price hike and FDI in retail.

Although, Shiv Sena executive president Uddhav Thackeray had said earlier that "we won't participate in the Bharat bandh due to Ganeshotsav."

BJP-led NDA and UPA ally Samajwadi Party, along with a number of other non-UPA parties, have separately announced the bandh in protest against the diesel price hike and FDI in multi-brand retail.

Shame! Shame Thakeres!! You are not liking Biharie or UP to come n Bombay but you are welcoming English. One side you dig out the Shinde, Sindhiya and Digvijay Singh fore fathers heling English. Not what ae you plan to do. All it is that you are a faimily of people wo are greedy and baseless principles to control the power just good for nothing.

We are much advance in agriculture not sure we need technology from Walmart to export it to India, also retail structure is well framed.. People are disillusionment that FDI in retail will bring jobs & bring big Malls... already R-Mall & Big Bazaar has similar concept & they are indigenous to India why need when more brand Walmart to India.. Politicians who where spoiling who crops & importing higher rate crops/wheat to india now the difference will Walmart will give away our agricultural profits to America ... Rupee will still lower with marginal job creation & glamour of having USA/Walmart into our country If it is in technology no doubt India lacks, needs help & requires resources/tech as in Aircraft.. People should understand pros & cons of FDI rather sentimental about, do scientific analysis before supporting any parties (we should have FDI in people`s approach (rational/scientific/awareness) from USA to India that`s the need of India people).. http://www.globalpolitician.com/print.asp?id=2970

@Brijesh, Indian retail players dont have infrastructure like foreign players. We are wasting our agriculture products as we dont have cold storages. We are almost wasting 40 % of agri products as we dont have food processing units. FDI will help us to reduce wastage and in turn control price hike and farmer will get good money for his own products. If we save this excess loss we can export agri products to world.

You cant expect investments only in areas where your own countrymen dont invest, are running in losses or dont have the capacity to run the show. You want money in long gestation, high risk endeavors like infrastructure and so on. if you care to look into economic history, you will see that all progressive countries minimal barriers. See closer to India like Malaysia. They have opened up their economies and the quality of life they have cannot even be dreamt for a poor Indian. Dont be a frog in a well. Wake up!
