CBI questions NCP MLA in Adarsh case

Mumbai: NCP MLA Jitendra Awhad was on Wednesday
questioned by the CBI in connection with the Adarsh Housing
Awhad is a member of the controversial 31-storey Adarsh
Society in south Mumbai.
"Awhad was questioned as to how and when he became a
member of the Society and the source of the funds with which
he purchased a flat there," a senior CBI official said.
CBI registered a case in connection with the scam in
January this year against 14 persons, which includes former
Maharashtra Chief Minister Ashok Chavan, retired Army
officials and bureaucrats.
The agency has since then questioned several members of
the Society and others, including secretary of the Society RC
Thakur, chief promoter Kanhaiyalal Gidwani, Brigadier MM
Wanchoo, former deputy secretary of Urban Development
Department PV Deshmukh and former joint commissioner of
police (traffic) Sanjay Barve.
