Mumbai: The Brihanmumbai Municipal
Corporation (BMC) on Friday said that census work in the city was
in the last stage and would be completed next week.

"The census work is now in the last stage and will be
completed in the next week," Additional Municipal Commissioner
Manisha Mhaiskar told reporters here.
During the drive, it was found that 2,40,298 were locked.
It could be due to various reasons, the same number of houses
were found locked during the polio drive, she said.

The civic body has launched helpline numbers from
9167259701 upto 9167259724 - one each for the 24 wards in the
city to assist all those left out to be counted in the census
exercise.
"We have received about 7,893 calls of which 7,582 were
attended. Only 318 houses are left to be covered. This will be
covered in the next week," Mhaiskar said.

About 31,797 enumerators are surveying 28,906 house
blocks (one house block consists of 150 houses). One
enumerator will visit 150 homes, Mhaiskar said.
