Mumbai: In a bid to woo the minority communities ahead of the civic polls, the city unit of the Congress has decided to reach out to them and address their religious issues.

The Minority Department of Mumbai Congress will write to over 4,500 religious places here including masjids, madrasas, dargahs, burial grounds, churches, as well as the religious places of Jains and Sikhs to understand their problems.

Chairman of the Congress' minority cell, Nizamuddin Rayeen said there are several problems concerning these communities.

"We want to ensure that the genuine issues are addressed positively. Instead of minorities making rounds of government and political party offices, we want to reach out to them and hear their grievances," Rayeen said.

"We will make a visit to these places also," he added.
