Colour poisoning: Over 170 kids fall ill in Mumbai

Mumbai: Holi celebrations in Dharavi slums turned sour after over 170 persons, majority being children, suffered from poisoning following use of spurious colour.

Over 50 children, majority between 5-15 years of age, were admitted to Sion Hospital after they complained of vomiting and nausea after they played with colours in the morning.

As per reports, spurious colour, containing chemicals, had caused poisoning.

Some of the kids have been shifted to the ICU, reports further added.

Home Minister RR Patil is due to visit the hospital later in the evening.

I was at virar alongwith with my friends enjoying Holi. Suddenely he received an call from his wife that he son is not well, we asked hin to take to sion hospital. I guess he was the first patient who was been admitted. We reached that around 2 pm. I was there entire day. It was been observed that all political party came to show sympathy to patient parents. Mumbai Mayor alsp visited to grab an attraction. I suggest Our Mayor if she put more effort on her responsibilities. for eg. in all malls plastic bags has been strictly banned. But all local vendor are still providing plasctic bags less than 50 micons

I`m from kolkata..bt mumbai is my 2nd home city city..really feel bad when gets these types of news on mumbai..3monts ago in kolkata also 174poor people were died after consuming local wine..government should take some positive steps in the cases happened in kolkata and mumbai..these are happening just because of the less monitoring mentality of Govt. so they must take some positive actions to prevent such types of casulties..
