Congress declares first list for BMC elections

Congress tonight declared its first list of 119 candidates, 58 of whom are women, for the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation elections scheduled to be held on February 16.

held on February 16.

Party sources said that over 60 per cent of the sitting
corporators have been replaced.

Sitting BJP corporator Pravin Chedda who defected to the
Congress figures in the list from ward 124 and Samadhan
Sarvankar, son of Shiv Sena MLA turned Congressman Sada
Sarvankar also figures in the list from ward 182.

As many as 19 sitting corporators have been renominated.
Congress is contesting 169 seats for the country`s
premier civic body which has a total of 227 wards. It has left
58 seats for the NCP.

The list was finalised after a two-day parliamentary
board meeting in which union minister Bharat Solanki was an
observer.
