Mumbai: A local court on Thursday rejected the
bail applications of senior police inspector Pradeep
Suryavanshi and three others in Ram Narayan Gupta encounter
Six police officers, including encounter specialist
Pradeep Sharma, have been arrested in this case. Sharma too
has sought bail and the court has reserved the order on his
Sharma, Suryavanshi and others allegedly staged an
encounter in which Ram Narayan Gupta alias Lakhan Bhaiyya was
killed in Andheri in November 2006.
Gupta was alleged to be an aide of Chhota Rajan.
Gupta`s brother advocate R V Gupta then moved the Bombay
High Court, which asked the state to set up a special
investigation team to probe the matter.
Court today also rejected the bail applications of
Shailendra Pande, Akil Khan, and Mannu Mohan Raj.
As per advocate Gupta, who has filed an intervening
application in this matter, these three were Pradip Sharma`s
informers who picked up his brother on the day of alleged fake
encounter and handed him over to Sharma`s team.
