Dabholkar murder case: Police check records of plots donated to MANS

Pune police top brass have instructed investigators to collect details of the plots that had been donated to Maharashtra Andhashraddha Nirmoolan Samiti (MANS) in various parts of the state.

Pune: Pune police top brass have instructed investigators to collect details of the plots that had been donated to Maharashtra Andhashraddha Nirmoolan Samiti (MANS) in various parts of the state.

Officers have also been asked to gather details of builders who share adjacent plots to these donated lands and if anyone tried to acquire the plot for development and was having disagreement over the issue.

A senior crime branch officer said, “While examining the call details, we found that one of the callers’ phone was not functioning after he made a call to Dr Narendra Dabholkar. After interrogating the caller, we came to know that he was inquiring about the funds that he had donated to Sadana Publication in the past.”

According to the crime officer, the caller told police that some MANS workers wanted to develop the plots but Dabholkar was against it. As a result, some of the workers left the organisation also.

“The caller has asked us to check the details of plots as well,” the officer said.

Investigators are also checking the possible criminal connection of builders and their whereabouts on the day of the murder.

“We are also examining their bank account details to check if any questionable amount was transferred recently,” the officer said.

The police are also gathering details of sharpshooters working for Mumbai-based gangsters. They have identified five sharpshooters who are active in supari killing in the state.

“We are questioning the sharpshooters who had been arrested in recent firing incidents in the city to dig out more information about other shooters who are active in the state,” an officer said.

Three teams of crime branch have been sent to Ahmednagar, Aurangabad and Solapur to check out details of suspected callers.
