Decide on Maharashtra ex-CM petition, SC tells HC

The Supreme Court Wednesday asked the Delhi High Court to decide the petition by former Maharashtra chief minister Ashok Chavan on challenging the election commission showcause notice to why he should not be disqualified for filing wrong election expenditure accounts.

New Delhi: The Supreme Court Wednesday asked the Delhi High Court to decide the petition by former Maharashtra chief minister Ashok Chavan on challenging the election commission showcause notice to why he should not be disqualified for filing wrong election expenditure accounts.

The apex court bench of Justice F.M.I. Kalifulla and Justice S.K. Singh asked the high court to decide the matter in 15 days after the petition by the complainant Madhavrao Finhalkar challenged the high court order staying the EC showcause notice.
