New Delhi: Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut
on Thursday demanded in the Rajya Sabha that the government should
strengthen security of Mumbai by providing modern weapons to
Maharashtra Police to tackle terrorists.

In his special mention, Raut said although Mumbai Police
has been demanding modern weapons from time to time, the
demand is not met due to "lethargic" attitude of both state
and central government towards procurement of modern weapons
and communication equipment.

He said the attacks in Mumbai show that the country`s
financial capital urgently needs a more modern police force
and better intelligence resources.

Prabhat Jha (BJP) wanted the government to set up a
regulatory authority to set parameters for safe energy drinks
in the country.

Ambeth Rajan (BSP) said there was need for taking
effective steps for propagation of Hindi throughout the
country.
