Mumbai: A 32-year-old diamond broker has been arrested in connection with the murder of another broker, whose body was found at Panchgani hill station in Satara district of Maharashtra, police said on Saturday.

Naresh Golani, a diamond broker residing at Virar in neighbouring Thane district, was arrested on Thursday on the charges of murder whereas, three more accused are still at large, said Ajit Surve, senior inspector at D B Marg police station.

According to police, victim Hardik Moradiya (21), went missing on November 17 with diamonds worth around Rs 1.25 crore from Opera House area in South Mumbai.

Moradiya's brother had lodged a missing complaint a day after at the police station. However, two days later, Moradiya was found with his throat slit and stab marks near Panchgani, police said.

Going by the victim's telephonic records, we caught Golani, who lured Moradiya into selling diamonds at a higher price to another party instead of his company's client, the inspector said.

When he agreed, Golani along with three others took Moradiya to Panchgani where the latter was murdered, he added.

Golani was remanded in police custody till November 8, police said adding the diamonds have not been recovered yet.
