Thane: Families living in a building here were evacuated by authorities to safety, after it developed a tilt indicating that it would crash anytime, civic authorities said here on Friday.
Chief of the Disaster Control Cell of the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) Santosh Kadam told PTI this afternoon that the control room received an emergency call, stating that a building in Kalwa was "tilting" and was in a "precarious condition", after which a disaster control team evacuated all occupants of the building.
The three storied building called Ruheen Manzil situated in the Kalwa market area housed as many as six tenements and three shops.
Last week, occupants of a five-storied building in Diva which had also developed a tilt were evacuated, civic authorities said.
In another incident last week, nearly 66 families were evacuated before a building in Kalwa crashed in the wee hours.
