Mumbai: Maharashtra government today said food prices would come down further as there has been a good crop yield in kharif season.

"There has been a good crop yield in kharif season across the state which would definitely bring down the food prices," Food and Civil Supplies Minister Anil Deshmukh informed the Legislative Council.

Elaborating on the state government?s efforts to control food prices, Deshmukh said the government has already given subsidised food through Antyoday scheme and also to BPL families.

"For the first time, a crore APL families were also given subsidised food and the Government sanctioned Rs 532 crore for that," Deshmukh said.
