Mumbai: Force One, the commando force raised after the November 26 Mumbai terror attack, is modelled on the elite National Security Guards, State told the High Court today.

The High Court, which is hearing PILs filed by advocate V P Patil and others on security lapses that led to the attack, had earlier remarked that state should have commandos stationed in Mumbai.

The court had also sought a report on measures taken in the aftermath of attacks.

Public Prosecutor P A Pol today filed a confidential report.

Talking about the commando unit, he said that "Force One is equivalent of NSG".

The new force, headquartered in Mumbai, is headed by IPS officer Sadanand Date, who himself was injured battling the terrorists at Cama Hospital on the night of November 26.

After reading the report, division bench of Justices Ranjana Desai and V K Tahilramani said, "we are happy with whatever has been done...we hope that State will go on lending support to commandos force."

During the attack, NSG team had to be flown from New Delhi, and its operation started only on the morning of November 27.

The court also said that now PILs should be disposed off, as they can't go on indefinitely.

As not all the lawyers in these PILs were present, court adjourned hearing to July 26.
