Mumbai: The forensic experts, who examined Nitesh Rane's office after a worker of his NGO accused the politician's son of firing at him, have ruled out any traces of cordite at the site, police said.

On September 23, Chintu Shaikh filed a police complaint accusing Maharashtra Revenue Minister Narayan Rane's son, Nitesh of firing at him which injured his cheek at Khar office of Swabhiman Sanghatana, an NGO run by Nitesh.

The claim was, however, rubbished by Nitesh and his family memebrs.

Shaikh is the vice president of transport wing of Swabhiman Sanghatana.

Following the allegations, Nitesh and his two aides Nitin Vardhanarayan and Zaheed Shaikh were charged with attempt to murder and an FIR was lodged at Khar police station.

A police team and forensic experts examined Nitesh's office and took required samples to establish the fact.

"In their report, the forensic experts have ruled out any traces of cordite in Rane's office," Joint Police Commissioner (Crime) Himanshu Roy said.

Cordite is an explosive powder consisting of nitrocellulose, nitroglycerin and petroleum jelly, used as a propellant for guns.
