Former Thane District Judge Rajabhau Gawande passes away

Former Thane District Judge Rajabhau Gawande died here this morning due to old-age related ailments. He was 86.

Thane: Former Thane District Judge Rajabhau Gawande died here this morning due to old-age related ailments. He was 86.

He was the district judge at Thane and Bhandara and also chairman of the Industrial Court at Mumbai.

He is survived by wife, son and three daughters.

Born at Kopargaon in Maharashtra's Ahmednagar district, Judge Gawande had a keen interest in literature and also delivered several lectures on the subject.

He received several awards during his lifetime, including the Thane Bhushan.

He had also written two books - one in Marathi and the other along with V K Bedekar on Mahatma Gandhi.

Noted educationist Ashok Chitnis and Aam Aadmi Party's Thane unit leader Sanjeev Sane condoled the death of the judge.
