Four ex-Nagpur police officers booked in case of fraud

An offence has been registered against four retired officers of Motor Transport (MT) unit of Nagpur police in an alleged case of fraud in procurement of spare parts to the tune of Rs 40.24 lakh, police said Friday.

Nagpur: An offence has been registered against four retired officers of Motor Transport (MT) unit of Nagpur police in an alleged case of fraud in procurement of spare parts to the tune of Rs 40.24 lakh, police said Friday.

 

According to a police statement, the four officers - police inspector P G Ladikar, sub-inspector B S Roy and two workshop supervisors M A Sheikh and D S Narule were booked for allegedly submitting fake documents in procurement of spare parts between year 2000 and 2005 while they were posted at the MT unit.

An internal enquiry was conducted which found involvement of the four officers in the case.

Based on the complaint of Assistant Sub-Inspector Arvind Gajbhiye of MT unit, all four were booked under IPC sections 409 (criminal breach of trust by public servant), 420 (cheating), 467 (forgery of valuable security), 468 (forgery for purpose of cheating) and other relevant sections, the release added.
