Freedom fighters on day-long fast in Mumbai

Mumbai: Members of the Freedom Fighters
Sucessors Organisation here on Tuesday went on a day-long fast here
to press for their long-pending demands including pension to
freedom fighters and jobs to their kins.
"The government is not implementing policies for freedom
fighters and their sucessors which have been approved
and are instead giving assurances to us since last 10-15
years," the outfit`s President Vijay Deshpande told PTI.

Around 150 freedom fighters and their sucessors from
various parts of the state have gathered at the Azad Maidan,
the site where several supporters of Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev
have also sat on an indefinite fast.
"Pension has not given to freedom fighters even who have
produced their original documents as an evidence to convey
that they were part of the freedom struggle," he alleged.

Deshpande also said that the Maharashtra government
should obey the orders given by the Bombay High Court
regarding employment to kin of freedom fighters.
