Girl raped by youth on false promise of marriage in Mumbai

 A 17-year-old girl was allegedly raped repeatedly for the last ten months by a youth who promised to marry her, police said on Sunday.

Thane: A 17-year-old girl was allegedly raped repeatedly for the last ten months by a youth who promised to marry her, police said on Sunday.

The accused, identified as Vicky Ramesh Bhoir (22), developed friendship with the girl, a resident of Chikhanghar village near Padgha in the district.

He raped her several times over the past ten months at an isolated place near Khadavali river while promising that he would marry her, assistant police inspector DY Randive said.

However, recently the youth refused to keep his promise following which the girl lodged a complaint with police last evening, he said.

The girl has been sent for medical examination.

An offence has been registered against the accused, who works as a labourer, under section 376 (rape) of the IPC and sections 3, 4, 5 and 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, police added.
