HC dismisses PIL against MHADA`S 2009 house lottery

The Bombay High Court today dismissed the PIL against lottery conducted by Maharashtra Housing And Area Development Authority for sale of its low-cost flats in various schemes across the city.

Division bench headed by Justice F I Rebello today
said that "there is no merit" in the petition, filed by
Gayasingh Yadav, an ex-armyman.

MHADA had conducted the lottery for allottment of over
3,800 flats in May 2009. Yadav, who himself had applied but
did not get a flat, alleged that the software used for
conducting the lottery was faulty, even according to the
report of Comptroller and Auditor General.

There were at least 55 instances of same person
getting more than one allotments, his lawyer Ahmed Abdi
alleged.

However, MHADA lawyer clarified that the CAG report
was about the software that was used in 2005-06, which was not
used in 2009 lottery.
