HC restrains Sheetal, Mafatlals

Bombay High Court restrained the warring parties from initiating fresh action against each other.

Mumbai: Admitting the petitions filed by industrialist Atulya Mafatlal`s estranged wife Sheetal, and his sister Gayatri and brother Ajay Mafatlal, Bombay High Court on Thursday restrained the warring parties from initiating fresh action against each other.

The division bench of Justices V M Kanade and P D Kode stayed all criminal proceedings filed by Sheetal on one hand and Gayatri and Ajay on the other against each other, pending hearing of their petitions seeking quashing of respective criminal cases against them.

Sheetal has resolved her dispute with husband Atulya, his daughter Marushka and sister Kunti Shah. But she has not sorted out the disputes with others.

Following a settlement between Sheetal, Atulya and some of his family members, the High Court quashed harassment case against the industrialist and his family, and the theft case registered against Sheetal by Marushka.
In the dispute between Sheetal and Mafatlal family members, criminal complaints and counter-complaints came to be filed.

Earlier, when all the parties moved High Court separately seeking to quash the respective complaints against them, the court had appointed a senior lawyer as mediator.
Two weeks ago, the mediator informed that Sheetal had resolved dispute with Atulya and some members of the family, but not with Atulya`s brother Ajay and sister Gayatri.

Sheetal`s lawyers told the court that while Atulya apologised to her, Ajay and Gayatri refused. Their petitions would be now heard separately.
