Nashik: Nashik city and its adjoining areas experienced heavy unseasonal rains, along with thunder Friday evening for half an hour, disrupting normal life.
The rains led to waterlogging in low lying areas. Hailstorms lashed seven tehsil towns of the district last evening, damaging crops like onions, grapes and pomegranates, according to reports reaching headquarters.
Earlier during the day, a couple of farmers in Rui village of Nashik district's Niphad taluka climbed an electrical tower and demanded that government make proper assessments of their crop losses due to unseasonal rains.
The tehsildar reached the spot and assured them that their demands would be fulfilled after which they climbed down from tower, Niphad tehsildar Kailash Taskar said tonight.
