Mumbai: Maharashtra Water Resources Minister
Sunil Tatkare has stated before the two-member Commission
probing Adarsh Housing Society scam that he was never
concerned with the decisions regarding the Society.
Such matters fell in Chief Minister`s domain, Tatkare has
said, without naming anyone.
"Between 1999 and 2003, standing orders had been issued
by the Chief Minister, dividing the work of the Department of
Urban Development between himself and the Minister of State,"
Tatkare, who was a former minister for Urban Development, said
in an affidavit filed today.
"Except for rejecting a proposal made by the Society
seeking additional FSI in July 2004, I am not even remotely
concerned with any of the alleged irregularities pertaining to
the Society," the affidavit states.
According to the affidavit, on July 14, 2004, a meeting
was held with principal secretary of Revenue and Housing
department, MMRDA and BEST officials, Collector of Mumbai and
MLC Kanhaiyalal Gidwani on an application filed by the
Society, seeking additional FSI.
"After verification, the Society`s request was not found
to be feasible and was hence rejected. Principal Secretary
Ramanand Tiwari then suggested that the Society could seek for
the state government to delete reservation of BEST bus depot
and change it to residential (so as to transfer FSI to
Society)," Tatkare has said.
Tatkare had worked under two Chief Ministers in this
period: Vilasrao Deshmukh and Sushilkumar Shinde.
The affidavit was filed in reply to summons issued by
the Commission earlier this month.
