Jaitapur activists burn Ramesh`s effigies

Angered by the statement made by the Jairam Ramesh, that there would be no rethink of nuclear power project in the coastal Jaitapur, the anti-project activists burnt his effigies.

Mumbai: Angered by the statement made by the
Union Minister for Environment and Forests, Jairam Ramesh,
that there would be no rethink of nuclear power project in the
coastal Jaitapur, the anti-project activists burnt his
effigies in various parts of Konkan and elsewhere.

The activists have also threatened to intensify their
agitation from Sunday.

"Activists at Madban, Lanja, Jaitapur, Ratnagiri,
Kholapur and Pune burnt Ramesh`s effigies, and we are planning
to intensify the protest from tomorrow," Dr Milind Desai from
Mithagavne near Jaitapur said to a news agency.
