Mumbai: Senior NCP leader and former
Maharashtra Housing Minister Javed Khan has resigned from the
primary membership of the party.
Khan said he had submitted his resignation letter to
state unit chief Madhukar Pichad yesterday.
When contacted, Khan refused to give reasons for his
resignation and merely said that he had worked for the party
for several years and now wanted to quit.
"I worked for the party for several years and now
don`t want to continue," he said.
When asked about reports that he was planning to join
Congress, Khan said he had no such plans as of now.
Pichad, however, said Khan was still with the NCP. "He
is not going anywhere,"he added.
NCP sources said Khan was miffed with the NCP as he
was not made the City and Industrial Development Corporation
(CIDCO) chairman after the death of Nakul Patil. The party
appointed Pramod Hindurao in Patil`s place.
