New Delhi: Welcoming the Maharashtra government's decision to scarp Reliance-led Maha Mumbai Special Economic Zone in Raigad and allowing farmers to utilise their land, the JD(U) on Sunday said fertile land allotted to non-functioning SEZs should be returned to farmers.
"We welcome the decision of the Congress-led Maharashtra government. Taking a cue from it, all other states should also cancel allotment of fertile land to SEZs, if they are not functioning," JD-U president Sharad Yadav told reporters here.
He said there are numerous cases of fertile land being given to non-operational SEZs around Delhi and demanded restoration of the lands to farmers.
On BJP leader LK Advani apologising to Congress chief Sonia Gandhi over an allegation in a report of a task force appointed by his party that she and her late husband Rajiv had accounts in Swiss banks, Yadav said, "What is wrong in Advani expressing regret after Gandhi denied the task force report findings that she and her family had accounts in Swiss banks?"
