Kadam, Tambe in race for Maha Youth Cong president

are in the race for the post of Maharashtra Youth Congress
president, the election for which will be held later this
Kadam is the son of state Forest Minister Patangrao
Kadam, while Satyajit Tambe is the nephew of Revenue Minister
Union minister Vilasrao Deshmukh`s son, Amit, was
interested in state Youth Congress president`s post, but as he
is above 35, he was not eligible, party sources said, adding
that the Latur MLA had now thrown his weight behind Satyajit
Former Chief Minister Ashok Chavan was said to be
supporting Vishwajit Kadam.
Kadam and Tambe recently filed nominations at Sangli and
Elections for the state Youth Congress chief, and the
Youth Congress`s state-, Lok Sabha- and Assembly-level
committees will be held on September 17 and 18.
Of the 16 lakh members, 57,208 were elected at the booth
level polls. Those elected at the booth level can contest for
the Assembly, Lok Sabha and the state level committees.
The candidate who gets maximum votes will be president,
the number two candiate would be vice president and the eight
others who get the next highest votes would be general
