Khadse, Rane spar over opposition MLAs rights

Maharashtra Legislative Assembly on Monday saw Leader of Opposition Eknath Khadse and Revenue Minister Narayan Rane sparring over rights of opposition MLAs.

Mumbai: Maharashtra Legislative Assembly on
Monday saw Leader of Opposition Eknath Khadse and Revenue
Minister Narayan Rane sparring over rights of opposition MLAs.

Khadse alleged that attempt was being made to curtail the
rights of MLAs belonging to opposition parties.

The comments were in reference to a breach of privilege
notice moved by MNS member Harshvardhan Jadhav against CEO of
Aurangabad Zilla Parishad demanding his suspension.

Jadhav said he had asked the CEO to convene a meeting of
officials concerned to discuss the spread of epidemic in his
constituency Kannad in Aurangabad district due to contaminated
water.

However, the MLA said the ZP CEO had mislead him and
conveyed in a humiliating manner that he had no rights to
convene such a meeting.

"The CEO told me to speak to the Taluka medical officer,"
Jadhav said while moving privilege notice.

Supporting Jadhav`s notice, Khadse said the local
administration is being asked not to co-operate with elected
representatives from opposition benches.
