Nashik: Reacting to the resignation of Kripashankar Singh as the chief of Mumbai Congress on Wednesday, Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan here said that Singh had quit following the party's bad performance in Mumbai civic polls.

The Chief Minister was talking to reporters after inaugurating the 55th All-India Police Duty Meet at Maharashtra Police Academy this evening.

The announcement of Singh's resignation came soon after the Bombay High Court directed his prosecution on corruption charges.
